Today's computers make
it easy to calculate download speed with many tools that you can find on the
internet. The only issue with the downloaded file is that it may be corrupt or
a virus infected file. Many of the downloadable programs do not work very well
on Windows and will often times cause the computer to run slower than it
normally would. If you have a slow speed, then you need to download a good tool
to check the speed and determine what caused the problem.
The first step in
knowing how to calculate download speed on your computer is to download a tool
that allows you to check the downloaded file size. If you use the default
Toolkit UI for most downloads, then the total download speed will be displayed
on the download bar of the downloaded file. You will want to make sure that the
file size is not too big though or else you may download the wrong size file.
If you go to the start
menu and click run then you should be able to see all of your active programs.
If you look for a program Manager, you will then be able to see the
"managed" icon. When you click this icon, you will get the list of
all of the managed programs on your machine including Internet Explorer,
Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Opera and so on. If you look for the posted July 4th
update, then you should be able to see that it lists the new tool for
calculating download speed.
One way that you can
calculate download speed using the newUI is to use the time calculator tool.
You can right click on the start button and then click "calculate download
speed". A new window will pop up and you will want to select the new
calculation method that you prefer. Once you select that method, you can
compare the time it would take to transfer one megabyte of files from a
different location to your internet connection speed. The time needed is in
megabytes per second.
In order to get the
answer to the question, "where does it show the speed," you should
click onto the calculation tab. The "time needed" should be in
seconds. Once you have chosen that value, click on the "show" button.
The new window should appear where you can see the time needed to download a 1
megabyte of data.
There are several other
speed test tools available online. You can use these as well but the problem
with these tools is that they don't accurately display the actual results.
Therefore, if you would like an accurate assessment of your current bandwidth
speed, then you should download bandwidth speed calculator software.
Downloading one of these tools will display the actual speed results as well as
the average download speeds for your connection.
